An ardent believer in creative therapeutic spaces, Nishi Joshi, a Queer Affirmative Regd. Psychotherapist. With her expertise in Movement based Psychotherapy, Nishi is licensed with the Association of Dance Movement Psychotherapy – UK has completed her formal training, MA in Dance Movement Psychotherapy from Goldsmiths, University of London.
With The Safe Sanctuary, formerly known as The Safe Space, Nishi aspires to build a community of individuals passionate about movement and its effectiveness in understanding our emotions across varied genders, castes, classes and ages. Having worked with children and adults with complex needs, her passion for mental health stems from her time as a young psychology student where she studied BA (Hons) – Psychology at Kamla Nehru College, Delhi University.
Being a trained dancer, she worked as a Movement facilitator with toddlers in various reputed schools across Delhi NCR before she decided to delve into an academic dialogue in the dynamic field of mental health, and its implications. Her experience of working in diverse settings as a Trainee DMP in London, UK strengthened her belief in the effectiveness of practising Body-focused Psychotherapy. Nishi’s faith in the transformative capacity of creative arts is rooted in its irrefutable association with developing a deeper understanding of selfhood and its complex emotions.
